I had one little goblin (dressed as a pup with a black nose) among a group of about six bigger kids that actually took possession of my candy bowl (I was holding it in my arms, she was hanging off it -- feet off the ground).
I had to beat her off with a stick while yelling , "No, that's enough! Stop! Let the others have a turn!" She was looking up at me with death in her eyes. In fact, it WAS quite chilling. Even if she only came up to my knees, she wished me dead.

A Witchy Night . . .
Ooooh, ooh. I KNOW there had to be witches on the road last night. The authorities knew it too. They canceled the goblins' trick or treat endeavors. It was a PERFECT "All Hallows Eve". Rainy and blustery . . . AND . . . the lights went out! The roof lifted up off the hours two or three times. I kept dragging a duvet around the house trying to find a safe place in case of tornados (later--when the lights came back, I found out there WERE tornado warnings). Wow!

Death, be not proud . . .
My husband's Mother died this morning. She was 96.
I feel sure God took her up years ago when she became something other than herself.
I'm sure she stepped through the door full of curiosity, wonder and greeting.

Ask not for whom the bell tolls . . .
Sooooo, the two years in the last hundred where the income gap has been the greatest-- were 1928 and 2007. Does the year 1928 'ring a bell' (maybe the one, in this case, that CLOSES the stock market). I started with the word 'so' just to be trendy.

Renewal?
I've just come back from a week at Chautauqua with Gary and am almost afire with possibilities. Strangely enough I seem to be obsessed with Poetry first of all, then Music, then History. I've not particularly ever believed in renewal. Now, I think I do.
